Christian Leadership: Call and Response
President Wayne Lewis, Houghton University
This session will focus on the call of Christians to serve through leadership across various contexts, including but not limited to Christian organizations; and Christian leaders’ appropriate response to God’s call to lead with humility, gratitude, and competence.
With 20 years of experience in education, higher education leadership is a calling for President Lewis. He is recognized as a champion for students; focusing on improving educational access, opportunities and experiences for students, including those who have historically been underserved. This passion is an excellent match for Houghton College and the vision of the College’s founder, Willard J. Houghton, who recognized how a life-bringing Christian faith, together with a high-quality education, could alter the trajectory of a person’s life. President Lewis cast a bold vision for Houghton excellence. Already recognized as one of the top 15 “Best National” Liberal Arts Colleges in NY and the #10 Top Performers on Social Mobility of National Liberal Arts Colleges in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, Houghton will continue to make a private, high-quality Christian college education an option for more students.
Meghan Duda Kinter, Ph.D.
Senior Director, Strategy & Business Development, Achievement Center of LECOM Health
Designed for individuals who are ready to deepen their roots of resilience and those who feel completely uprooted, this session will guide you to personal and professional growth through the four elemental forces to reinforce an unbreakable spirit in the face of adversity.
Finding Our Place in God's Story
Associate Director of Community Outreach
Susan Hirt Hagen CORE at PennState Behrend
Living out God’s story can feel overwhelmingly big – as if we can’t possibly stay who or where we are to find our place in it. We become so distracted with the big and flashy that we overlook the small and simple. Using examples from her own life and those found in Scripture, Kristin will unlock the secret that embracing the day by day opens the door to finding peace and purpose right where God has us.
The Biblical Blueprint for a Culture of Purpose
Owner, DBC Remodeling & Construction
One of the most important responsibilities of a Christian leader is to create a purpose filled culture for those they lead. This session seeks to answer: How do we begin to create a culture that fulfills God’s purpose for us and those we are called to lead?
The Church Has Left the Building
Pastor Derek Sanford
Lead Pastor, Grace Church
With resources and membership dwindling nationwide, and a cultural tide that has become antagonistic, it’s tempting for churches to go into “survival mode.” Pastor Derek and Grace Church are going through a future-thinking overhaul by redefining the scorecard for how they measure success and reimagining the finish line of spiritual growth outside the walls of the church instead of inside. What could it look like for individual Christians to be a force for good in their workplaces, neighborhoods, and third spaces by discovering their life calling?
